LUCKY US – An opportunity to record more writers!!
Janet Buttenweiser and Stephanie Barbe’ Hammer teach a class at the Whidbey Writer’s Workshop called ‘Writers Talking to People‘. The class is held at the NILA MFA program summer workshop held at the Captain Whidbey Inn. This year WhidbeyAIR was fortunate enough to have 8 MFA student writers from their class come into the studio to read from their works. Listen link at end of post.
Located on Whidbey, the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts was formed out of writer Wayne Ude‘s dream to start a graduate level degree program on Whidbey. NILA has since been a corner stone of our very fertile literary life here on Whidbey.
NILA’s mission is to create and support a diverse community of established and aspiring writers through literary education, communication, encouragement and access to professional literary sources and resources.
The writers in the MFA program are adults, hence many of them include adult content and subject matter in their work. We thought it would be great to have Perry Woodfin, local artist, writer and host of WhidbeyAIR’s Adult Content open the podcast. We hope you’ll enjoy listening to these writers. Included are some comments and information about the program by instructors Janet (Buttonweiser) and Stephanie (Barbe’ Hammer), both NILA MFA program graduates.
Whidbey was honored to have had the opportunity to record the pieces you’ll here in the podcast below.
The stories, essays and poems you’ll here are from the following people (listed in last name alphabetical order – not order of reading). Enjoy!
