NILA Summer 2014 MFA Student Readings

mfa_header

As fortunate as we are to have a growing listener and member supported public access studio and streaming radio station on Whidbey Island, we are equally as fortunate to be able to work with the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts.

This summer we were, once again, fortunate to record NILA MFA students participating in a masters workshop called “Writers Talking to People” taught by NILA alums and instructors Stephanie Barbe’ Hammer and Janet Buttenweiser.

Writers Talking to People” is a class intended to help the writer prepare him or herself with the tools they’ll need to publicly share and promote their writings.

WhidbeyAir is honored, and proud, to be participating in the class, and glad NILA has embraced the WhidbeyAir studio, volunteers, and capabilities as supportive to their work.

In the following audio, you’ll hear from seventeen NILA MFA candidates who brought an essay, poem or chapter from their collections of original writing into our studio earlier this month (August 2014).

Click the image and enjoy the work of some great writers!

Please note: Separate files of each author will be available to the public, in two weeks from this post.  Author interested in providing WhidbeyAir audio files to their libraries, websites or publishers please contact feedback at kwparadio dot org.

WhidbeyAir would like to thank Stephanie Barbe’ Hammer, Janet Buttenweiser, NILA students (past and present), and the NILA program for their enthusiasm and inclusion of  the WhidbeyAir studio in their work!

Thank-you-post-it
